At night defensive position, checking automatic ambush, which accidentally detonated. / Individual was leading a dismounted reconnaissance patrol to check a mechanical demolition charge which had been set out by his platoon.  Individual accidentally detonated the charge and was killed instantly from shrapnel wounds.
